Chicago, IL

Program Management Services / Preliminary Engineering Consultant Oversight

The Red Line Extension (RLE) is the CTA’s Red Line track extension from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan to 130th Street. The proposed 5.3-mile extension will include four new stations: 103rd Street, 111th Street, Michigan Avenue and 130th Street. Each of the new stations will include bus and parking facilities. As part of the Red Ahead Program to extend and enhance the entire Red Line a new efficient train car storage and a shop facility are included.

AAA is responsible for developing scope and technical reviews, developing project specific design criteria, modifying CTA’s Infrastructure Design Criteria Manual (IDCM) for Traction Power, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Communications systems. AAA assisted in design concepts and coordinated with utilities to avoid interferences and corrosion and stray current protection. AAA developed negative cable design base for the elevated track for the different track area scenarios.

AAA Engineering developed a Design Criteria Conformance Checklist (DCCC) for the review of design and engineering plans and overseeing bridging documents. We provided Code, Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Cost Estimate Reviews.
